Ted - I would like to add 2 honorable mentions to my movie list:
Can't Hardly Wait - just like high school really was
Varsity Blues - one of the best movies of its genre - that kid really was a hero.
Thank you.
I just saw them in the past couple days and I sincerely believe they are in the top few movies I have seen. I actually think Varsity Blues could replace Wes Craven's New Nightmare, but that's splitting hairs.

Editor's Note (The editor, by the way, is me, Ted Strong, of tedstrong.com): This is a much better list than some (Deren's) that appear here. Ulee's Gold, Jerry Maguire, Leaving Las Vegas, Rushmore and Love and Death on Long Island are particularly good. I know Randy loves Cocktail, so I will not comment on it. Okay, I will. No, no, I won't. I'm not as big a fan of Fast Times as others are, but I love some of it -- especially Sean Penn. Barefoot in the Park with Redford and Fonda? Hmmm. With Adv. in Babysitting, you're Elisabeth Shue is showing. I haven't seen New Nightmare yet! I just saw Scream 3 (for the second time) and am very pleased with it, although it is not as good as the first two. I have rented New Nightmare for tonight (2.19.00), so, I will have thoughts here soon enough. Just added, 3.14.00: Sorry for the wait gang. I thought that Wes Craven's New Nightmare was but a minor prelude to the genius of Scream which followed. Better than most of your slasher flicks, with a bit of cleverness thrown in.
