10. The Girl Next Door (I don't know why I loved this movie so much, but I really thought that it was a very well laid out movie. It had good humor that didn't resort to stupidity like Dodgeball. My quick thoughts:
Top 70 favorite movies of all time (#16-70 are in no particular order):
1. Aliens is great.
2. Gladiator is okay.
3. Saving Private Ryan is pretty great.
4. Hotel Rwanda is really good.
5. Titanic had nice special effects, otherwise couldn't stand it.
6. Die Hard is great, but I wouldn't call it the best Christmas movie ever, but I suppose that's sort of a subjective rating.
7. The 6th Sense was good, but I didn't love it the way everyone else did.
8. The Exorcist was good.
9. Cool Hand Luke was great.
10. The Girl Next Door I haven't seen.
11. Constantine I liked more than most people I think.
12. Fight Club is awesome.
13. The Shawshank Redemption is I think decent, but totally overrated by almost everyone.
14. Terminator 2 was really good.
15. Forrest Gump I kind of couldn't stand. It's not that I thought it was bad, I just didn't love it like everyone else.
16. 13th Warrior is with Antonio Banderas, right? I don't think I saw it.
17. Band of Brothers, the HBO miniseries I did not see.
18. Armageddon I didn't think much of.
19. Black Hawk Down was okay.
20. Bourne Identity is outstanding, what a modern action/spy/entertainment type movie should be.
21. Bourne Supremacy pretty much just as great. Looking forward to the third one.
22. Braveheart was overblown.
23. The Breakfast Club can't really remember, but feel like it's pretty silly.
24. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Great, but if you think this is "The quintesential western" you should see Once Upon a Time in the West, made by the same director the year later.
25. Cast Away I haven't seen, it looks annoying.
26. Chronicles of Riddick; I like Vin Diesel, wish he would take fewer roles in lame, routine actioners, but to be fair, I didn't see this. I liked Pitch Black though.
27. Clerks; not that big a fan of Kevin Smith. Impressive he got this made for so cheap, but didn't like it that much, or think it was that funny.
28. Desperado was pretty good.
29. Dirty Harry is a masterpiece.
30. Ferris Bueller's Day Off I saw in high school, feel like it's kind of silly?
31. The Fifth Element is rad. I like Bruce Willis too.
32. Good Will Hunting was really good.
33. Gone in 60 Seconds was really lame.
34. Hidalgo - I haven't seen this yet; but since I already like horses, maybe I don't need to?
35. High Fidelity was a good movie.
36. Holes I didn't see, nor do I want to.
37. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - haven't seen, but I like the star, from the BBC The Office.
38. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Certainly not my favorite British film, but it is my favorite Monty Python film.)
39. Independence Day - stupid.
40. The Iron Giant - didn't see.
41. Jurassic Park - passable; no characters or characterizations of any interest; a couple of really nice sequences though.
42. Jumanji - heard this sucked.
43. Lawrence of Arabia; masterpiece.
44. Lord of War -- what is this? The 2005 movie with Nicholas Cage?
45. The Matrix - great.
46. Minority Report - not great.
47. Moulin Rouge! - fun, and original.
48. The Mummy - the remake? Passable; I like Rachel Weisz.
49. My Dog Skip -- didn't see.
50. O' Brother Where Art Though? Not my favorite Coen Bros film (see Miller's Crossing)
51. Office Space is one of the funniest movies ever.
52. Patch Adams looks AWFUL.
53. Reign of Fire; I may have seen this; not sure.
54. Remember the Titans - not that bad.
55. Robin Hood: Men in Tights - not that funny.
56. The Sandlot - not that interested in seeing.
57. Serendipity - awful.
58. Serenity; I thought this was okay; I love Joss Whedon via Buffy and Angel, but never saw Firefly, so I might have liked it more if I had.
59. The Shawshank Redemption -- didn't you already list this one? So you must REALLY love it?
60. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut -- pretty funny.
61. Spaceballs -- You should see Mel Brooks' earlier, good movies: Blazing Saddles, The Producers, Silent Movie, Young Frankenstein.
62. Speed -- Totally rad action movie, which changed the way action movies were made. Nice chemistry with Bullock and Reeves; I liked the way the everyman characters were all generally good people. The tacked on second ending is a minor flaw. Great movie.
63. Starship Troopers -- Silly -- but isn't it supposed to be?
64. The Thing -- I assume you mean the Carpenter remake? Either way, both are masterpieces.
65. The Truman Show -- really good.
66. Unbreakable -- not very good. M. Night Shyamalan's films keep getting progressively worse. The Sixth Sense was good and tricky; Unbreakable was sloppy; Signs was lame; The Village was worse than Signs.
67. The Neverending Story I never even saw.
68. We Were Soldiers - I think I saw this, but didn't think much of it.
69. X-Men was fun.
70. Edward Scissorhands was a little hit and miss, but mainly good.
Some of the worst movies ever (in no particular order):
The Hulk -- didn't see.
Dodgeball -- didn't love, but had some good laughs, can't see it as one of the worst movies ever.
Son of the Mask -- I'm sure this sucks.
Cat in the Hat -- I heard this sucks.
Decoys ("pls tell me you haven't seen it" - I don't even know if I've heard of it.)
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle -- didn't see.
The Flintstones -- stupid and lame.
Toys -- didn't see.
Mighty Ducks the Movie: Face-Off -- didn't see.
Elf I didn't like as much as most people seemed to, but I thought it was okay, certainly not one of the worst movies ever.
Catwoman I didn't see.
Big I don't really like, but can't see as one of the worst movies ever.
Alien Resurrection -- I thought this was a decent movie.
