Hi Ted,

You have a fascinating site.  Came across it as I was surfing the net for info on Iben Hjejle, but stayed for the essays, stories, and pictures.

Anyway, I grew up in Bethesda, MD and someone mentioned a weak showing from this town's residents. So, I thought I'd contribute a list to the madness.

1) "Favorite Films I Can Watch Over and Over"

For gunplay, explosions, and macho stuff...
A. Aliens
B. Die Hard
C. Kelly's Heroes
D. Raiders of the Lost Ark

One-word-title biopic projects...
E. Bugsy
F. Chaplin

Obvious manipulation of the viewer's emotions and I fall for it every time...
G. Babe
H. Searching for Bobby Fischer
I. Sleepless in Seattle

And stuff that makes me laugh...
J. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
K. Toy Story
L. Waiting for Guffman

Honorable mentions to Groundhog Day and Office Space, both of which have appeared on multiple lists here.

2) "Movies That I Should Have Walked Out Of"

A. Highlander 2
B. Sliver
C. Wing Commander
D. Lost in Space

Upon reflection, I don't think I've done anything to change anyone's perception that Bethesda, MD lacks fine film connoisseurs.  But that's okay.

Best Regards,
Steve Clark

Thanks for the kind comments!! Right off, I'm glad that you were surfing for Iben. She's great, huh? I should really update my page on her, though too, huh? I like Aliens, Die Hard, Kelly's Heroes and Raiders. I like Bugsy, more like so-so on Chaplin. Haven't seen Babe (I know, I know) or Searching for Bobby F. I think Sleepness in Seattle is okay. It's manipulative alright. Bill & Ted's has never really done it for me. Haven't seen Toy Story. Think Guffman is great. I think Groundhog Day and Office Space are both comic masterpieces of the 90s. Highlander 2, I'm sure sucked. Wing Commander was dumb. Didn't see Lost in Space. Sliver was weak. But I liked the production values, nudity, sex and music.
